Stock Talk

I wanted to start a thread here on the stock movement today. Anyone care to post some analysis or theories about what happened, will happen, might happen, etc? Also, on a related note, Ive been curious and others have emailed me wondering to what degree it's possible to learn what institutional investors may be invested in Zenn. Any way of learning that through proper channels? Also, does anyone

EEStor Announcement Ultracap Recap

With regard to EEStor's recent announcement of production and purity milestones, here's a little recap post for easy access to the various postings.1) Links to original press release and coverage2) Follow on Interview with Richard Weir3) Interview with Edward Golla, 3rd party reviewer4) Zenn's subsequent press release5) Some technical discussions of the release and related topics.a) reader

A couple format changes

In an attempt to draw even more skittish but possibly insightful souls into the various dialogues here, I am running a little scientific experiment of my own. I flipped on anonymous posting, thus eliminating the need to set up a blogger account to comment here. As a result though, it could introduce undesirable content so I turned on capta too. I already see some persons taking advantage of

Professor Clive Randall Follow Up

In a prior post, I mentioned that a reader had brought it to my attention that Clive Randall who is Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Penn State University had expressed concerns about the information found in the eestor patents. I was able to speak with Prof Randall today. First, for the time being, he will take a pass on posting information here in regards to EEStor. Second

Richard Weir Says Permittivity is Subset of Purity, Prototypes built/tested

I just spoke via phone with Dick Weir for about 5 minutes. It was a very typical conversation in the sense that he was at times jovial and others mildly irritated with me. I could tell he was determined not to let the conversation stray from simply commenting on the press release, to explain what's in there.Blogger: some people are wondering if your use of the term "milestone" in the press

Richard Weir on EEStor's announcement

Cleantech has acquired some comments from Richard Weir on yesterday's announcement:here's the link. thanks mrjerry

Zenn Follow Up to EEStor Press Release

Zenn Motors issued a press release today to say that yesterday's EEStor announcement "bodes well" for the next milestone of 3rd party permittivity. Zenn took the opportunity to elaborate on a few other items that are often asked/discussed here, eg, Zenn's stake in EEStor, the scope of Zenn's exclusive rights deal, and the ZENNergy drive system.

Reader Mihkel on EEStor Purity Announcement

Here's another interesting technical dissection of from todays blog comments...this time from Mihkel.  Again, I just want to pull out some of these technical comments and separate them from the discussion of zenn stock, etc.  My hope is other technical folks will add to the commentary and even, hopefully, add a little relief in terms of providing some plain english verbiage that average joes like

Reader Zawy on EEStor Purity Announcement

If you read this blog, it doesnt take long to realize that many of the comments are more interesting than the original posting.   I'd like to start  highlighting some of these interesting comments by pulling them out into their own separate posting to allow some focused discussion around the concepts involved.   Regarding today's EEStor PR, reader ZAWY had the below comments.   zawy said...They

Zenn Motors on EEStor Announcement

I spoke to Ian Clifford this afternoon. At the time, he had not read the EEStor announcement but said ZENN was working on their own release regarding the announcement which may be out later this evening. As long as he's not swamped dealing with the battle with Ontario, we'll speak again tommorrow. The battle is also covered here and here. What would you like me to ask him? Don't go crazy...

More info on the EEStor press release today

About 2 weeks ago, Edward Golla from Texas Research International, acting on his own behalf and not that of TRI entered the EEStor facilities to perform some analysis related to chemical analysis, an engagement that would take no more than half a day. First, his task was not to run any tests himself but rather validate two main things: 1) that EEStor possessed the equipment necessary to perform

EEStor Announces Certification of Additional Key Production Milestones and Enhancement of Chemical Purity

Wouldn't you know the one day I'm on the road, I miss an EEStor announcement. Thanks to those who emailed me at eestorblog@gmail.com with links to the story:Here is the press release.Another link to the story. Here's the link to the PRNewswire release. Here is a related and humorous Treehugger Article. Tyler Hamilton's take. Also, many people are trying to figure out what the significance of this

WashingtonPost on "New Oil Reality"

Moving now to the demand side of the EEStor story, I've been reading this WashingtonPost series on Oil written by Steven Mufson.  There's alot of painful reality in this set of articles that I'd rather not be aware of even though I blog about EEStor. Call it a psychological condition.   In any case, this paragraph caught my attention:"Last month, 51 percent of the respondents in aWashington Post

Hey, book-em-dano, shoot me an email:  eestorblog@gmail.com and then I'll delete this.

Investor Awareness Posting

Now, of course, it's not Jim Cramer talking about Zenn , but here's a decent blog post  with only a slight mention of EEStor.  I'm including it on the blog only because it underscores one interesting aspect of the EEStor story--not alot of people know about it or the Zenn stock (ZNN) associated with it, as the blogger in question (www.getmoneyenergy.com) points out, he/she only learned about it 2

World Learns about EEStor

My original intention this morning was to tackle the important task of translating the recent foreign press coverage of EEStor for you the reader. A couple hours into this, I realized that I only speak English.  But now that this blog is getting multiple thousand visitors/day, maybe some kind reader will translate for us any interesting paragraphs they find in these 5 articles:【EET】零排气电驱车汽车业的环保革命

EEStor Blog Reader Writes EESU Assembly for Dummies

In a truly remarkable turn of fortune, one of the readers of this blog has been able to piece together a complete assembly process for an EEStor EESU.  Or so he says.  I spoke just now to avid reader Jay to get a feel for what his game was with this publication (tongue in cheek) and he basically wants to offer everyone a layman's version of what's contained in some of the EEStor patents.  I've

Mystery EEStor Blogger Meets with Reader

Somewhere in the Washington DC area today at 4pm, the mystery EEStor blogger will be meeting with a reader of this blog for the first time. If he wishes to identify himself in the comments field, that is fine by me.

EEStor Questions Update

Just a quick note to say that I got an email yesterday from EEStor. They are looking through the questions submitted and have said they will respond soon. (days).  Again, as stated previously, there's no guarantee we'll get any responses but I feel like we'll get something.  A face to face meeting was also brought up in that email. That could happen in the next few weeks.

Utilities claim they'll be ready for electric vehicles

CNN scrounged up a couple "officials" from the utility world to say they'll be ready for future influx of electric vehicles, "so long as the changeover from internal combusion engines to electric vehicles is somewhat gradual." Very comforting.   Apparently, Efrain Ornelas from Pacific Gas & Electric is all over this issue for us: "we see the vehicle penetration levels coming at a rate that's

EEStor's Most Prominent Skeptic

Occasionally this blog is accused of having a slant in favor of EEStor. And it's been asked whether or not the purpose of the blog is to pump ZENN Motor stock (ZNN).   I think these are fair questions if you keep in mind the information here is provided with no guarantees.  That said, it has come to my attention that there may be a person in the world for whom the phrase, "EEStor's most prominent

New EEStor Patent?

I'm getting emails at my designated email box, eestorblog@gmail.com, saying there's a new EEStor patent out there, no, there's not one, back and forth, etc. Honestly, I can't figure it out, so if anyone wants to air it out, here's the new thread to do so.

Mystery EEStor blogger interviews Mystery EEStor blogger

Well now, this is certainly strange.  Venturebeat.com has an article out today covering some recipients (Aptera and ActaCell) of investment from google.org's RechargeIT program.  Since ActaCell is a competitor to EEStor, this blog was mentioned in reference to it's author. :-)  See also, Cryptagon.com's link.  To satisfy previous criticisms of this blog's form, I've decided to interview the

On the existence of EEStor prototypes/permittivity

An alert reader/commentator on this blog uncovered some material he believes shows that EEStor prototypes exist...with permittivity tests to boot.  Thanks Jay.  Jay found this WIPO patent from 2006 and used it to create this spreadsheet showing permittivity data.

Electric Maxi-Scooter

I was thinking about the future of this blog this morning and trying to figure out how much time I'll be able to spend on it.  As a function of that, I started visiting some of the sponsors I get from Adsense. I came across the Electric Maxi-Scooter made by Vectrix, an American company. I'm not a motorcycle or scooter person but the specs on this electric scooter are pretty sweet for current

Questions Submitted to EEStor

Thanks to Tom Villar for helping me organize and submit the questions YOU ASKED to EEStor. I sent them over this morning after speaking with EEStor again yesterday.  I had originally planned to post a deadline but once we reached over 50 questions, I figured we were entering overkill.  Again, to set expectations fairly low: they may not want to answer any questions but I think it's encouraging

Even More on ZNN Stock Value: Pt 2

I'm like everyone who reads this blog in the sense that I'd like to see some expedited effort towards getting a new battery technology into my ipod, blackberry, vehicle and a million other aspects of my life especially my pocketbook.  On the one hand, we're waiting on EEStor to turn on the lights and start giving speeches. But on the other, we're to some degree waiting on each other.   That is

Zenn Motor Valuation of $100/share?

Back in June, an article covering Zenn Motor appeared on several news sites and cited a $6.50/share "speculative buy" price target set by Versant Partners' Massimo Fiore who was also quoted as saying of EEStor, "This is not small potatoes here. If this works, it really changes the transportation sector."  On Fri July 18, Fiore released a research update in which he presented a way of valuing

EEStor Beyond Permittivity

In April of 2008 in Cedar Park, TX, Richard Weir called a meeting together to brief key investors and stakeholders about the progress of EEStor to date, according to sources familiar with the event.  The purpose of the meeting was not to talk about the Permittivity milestone, because "the science" of that milestone had been completed as early as September of 2007.  What Weir wanted to talk about

Where will you charge your electric car? Starbucks?

Back in Sept of 2007 when CNET originally posted this lightweight article discussing the possibility of recharging EEStor EESU's at Starbucks, gasoline cost us about 32% less than it does today, according to a chart I found at GasBuddy.com.  With recent news of Starbucks having to close 600 stores because fuel costs are keeping away customers, it's worthwhile to ponder once again how big of an

Why I blog Anonymously

Ever since I set up an email account (eestorblog@gmail.com) for people to contact me about EEStor, I've gotten alot of questions about who I am including whether I am Dick Weir. :-) I wanted to clear the air here prior to an article I will be posting this afternoon.   First, let me remind you that you are reading a blog and not a newspaper.  I'm not a professional journalist and in alot of ways

CNN's Miles O'Brien on Electric Cars (updated)

Occasionally, we need to look at some related content here and in this case it is a CNN piece on Electric Cars.  In the story, they interview Marc Geller who has created his own electric car that he charges each night.  Geller's interesting quote in response to a question of why Detroit hasn't embraced a plugin technology yet:  "I would say because they are fearful of how disruptive plugin cars

Your Chance to ask EEStor a Question

Yesterday, as I was continuing some efforts to do some fact checking, I spoke to an official at EEStor who provided me with alot of no comments and then something different:  an offer to submit a set of questions for board approval to which EEStor would respond in writing.  Now, let me say this very clearly:  I do NOT know if I am being played here or if the offer is genuine. But I was told

EEStor vs other battery technologies

This has been reported elsewhere but thought it was a good addition to the blog.

Fact Checking

I've been doing some fact checking on some new EEStor information I have.  Stay tuned

Andy Grove Piece

I mentioned earlier that Andy Grove, former CEO of Intel, is attempting to draw more attention to electric cars and electric vehicles.  In a piece published in The American, Grove says instead of striving for energy independence as we did in the 70s, we should be pursuing energy resilience by utilizing government mechanisms to encourage "conversion to electricity in a major way."  The biggest

Interesting New Specification for Predator UAV: Unlimited Range?

When it is filled to the brim with 600 lbs of 95 octane reciprocating aircraft engine fuel, the Predator UAV has a range of approximately 450 miles. To maintain 24hr surveillance over an area of interest, the Predator flies in teams of 4 aircraft which are controlled from a central ground control station manned by 55 people. They cost about $3mil out the door and more than that to maintain on a

More EEStor Information Coming

I hate to be a tease. But I've got alot of really good information coming in the next few days. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some of it out this weekend.

EEStor Blog Updates

You'll notice a few minor changes to this EEStor blog today.  The immediate intent is to make it easier for people searching for information about electric cars to learn about EEStor and how it's technology compares to other technologies vying for the electric vehicle market. Assuming all goes well, as EEStor develops as a company, it's appeal and recognition will begin with electric cars made by

Andy Grove on Electric Vehicles

Here's a good article that depicts a sentiment shared by a growing number of people: that electric vehicles are an imperative that goes beyond whether or not market conditions are favorable. In this case, the spokesperson for the sentiment is Andy Grove, former Chairman of Intel. Additionally, the market for Electric Vehicles needs a governmental push. I would go further and say, at least

EEStor New Facilities

I have it on good authority that EEStor has identified and will be moving to new facilities that are between 200-300 acres. Where, when, etc? Do NOT know. The source is intimately knowledgeable about EEStor. It is second hand information however...but again, from a trusted source.

EEStor Permitivity Test Clue from Richard Weir, EEStor CEO

I spent part of my day trying to figure out why Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers does not list EEStor as one of their investments on their website.  To find out, I called Bill Joy's office and his secretary informed me that KPCB's only investments are the ones listed on the website and EEStor is not listed.  I got the feeling she was a little confused and won't describe the ensuing conversation.

Most Widely Read Article on this EEStor Blog

Just wanted to say thanks to Tom Villars for his work on this prior article where he offered a way of thinking about the value of Zenn Motor's stock. It's been the most widely read article on this blog and readership has crossed into the thousands.   There are quite a few links in from investment & stock forums.

Energy Storage Article mentions EESTor

I guess I missed this one from a couple weeks ago.  CNET has an article on Energy Storage trends and mentions A123 and EEStor.  When I interviewed Ian Clifford awhile back, in our conversation, he mentioned grid stabilization but I had no idea what he was talking about. Check it out.

How to Invest in EEStor or what is Zenn Motor Company Stock worth?

If the fascination of EEStor's ultracapacitor technology ever sets in and everyone's world view becomes slightly modified, the fiscally curious among us may wonder what is the investment opportunity for such an innovation? It jibes with common sense to point out that in most cases, the success of a venture such as EEStor or Zenn Motor Company Inc. is more difficult to predict the earlier they are
